110 Magical Flowers and How To Use Them

Flowers are beautiful, they often smell wonderful, and they help the environment. In addition, flowers have magical properties.

Using flowers in spells or rituals increases the strength of your spell and represents certain powers and abilities. They can be combined with other magical ingredients such as herbs and spices, crystals, and candles to make the spell or pagan ritual more effective and meaningful to you.

Symbolizes the soul and apples are burned during Samhain to honor the reborn.

23. Blueberry

Protection. Associated with moon goddesses. Blueberry tea is very calming and blueberry leaves can be placed in an amulet for protection. When dressing a candle sprinkle blueberry powder on a white candle to use for peace rituals.

***Do not ingest fresh boneset because it contains toxic chemicals called hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs). Too much boneset will cause nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and possible liver damage.

I grew up in Kentucky and as an adult had my own farm there. Ironweed is a popular weed in the fields that butterflies love. Interestingly there is a farmer’s expression that ironweed is the only weed cattle won’t eat because it’s so hard and fibrous. Thats protection!!

Rose’s are one of the oldest, traditionally-used ingredients in witchcraft. They have been symbols of love for thousands of years and are found in about 10-20 percent of all love spells and potions created in one form or another.

You may use the buds, petals, or an extraction. They create extremely powerful love, passion, friendship, peace, happiness, and commitment energy. Sometimes Rose Petals or entire Roses are used in a love spell.

The colors of roses each have their own meaning:

  • Black = new beginning, change, courage

  • Orange = Fascination, enthusiasm

  • Peach = modesty

  • Pink = grace, sweetness

  • Purple = enchantment

  • Red = love, I love you

  • White = a heart unacquainted with love, eternal loyalty

  • Yellow = infidelity/jealousy or cheerfulness/friendship


    Rock rose (family Cistaceae) is a flower from a different family that is related to native hibiscus

    species is great in spells to alleviate fear and call on courage. It is one of the (Amazon link) Bach Original Flower Remedies.


Spell for Prosperity using Rose Hips

A geranium flower (not a rose). Geraniums are a very large family of plants and the scented geraniums in particular lend themselves well to witchcraft.

Rose Geranium is one of the few ingredients in witchcraft that focuses on truth, honesty, and protection against false accusations.

Geranium may aid in decreasing stress and anxiety. It helps to balance emotions. They make a good houseplant. Place them on a bedside table or dresser to help you sleep.

Good for confidence and breaking toxic relationships.

Place pots of geraniums on your stop or near a door to protect your home.

Red = protection

Pink = love

White = fertility/abundance




97. Rose Hips

Rose Hips are the fruit of the rose plant and can often be seen on wild roses in the fall.

They are used for money spells, healing spells, gambling spells, and in the creation of charms or potions.

Rose Hips are most frequently used in money, lottery, or finance spells.

Willow is usually used in spells of protection, fertility, healing, and love. When crafted into a wand, it has a special power to make any spell of divination or conjuration more powerful. It is very frequently used in seances and a variety of psychic or conjuration rituals.

Use willow in spells of self-care. It works well in spells to restore energy, let go of problems, and love the self.

The willow flower is called a catkin.

Witch hazel is used to enhance psychic abilities. Protection from harmful spirits.

In North America, we also refer to this as Winter Bloom. Widely used by Indigenous people medically and magically. Widely used for dowsing purposes.

A very ancient magical plant, yarrow has been found in Neanderthal graves dating 60,000 years ago. The Greek poet Homer said that the centaur Chiron taught about Yarrow.


109. Yucca

Yucca is a very strong cleansing and purification herb. It can be used to create potent talismans, amulets, and charms which provide protection and ward away evil. It can also be used to break hexes, and curses, and for healing spells.


110. Zinnia

Zinnia are great flowers to use in spells for abundance and endurance. Are you missing absent friends or need lasting affection?
